What a day yesterday was. I can’t remember the last time the first day of the NCAA tournament was that exciting!

The first slate of games started at 12:20 and by time they were finished we had already seen one upset, a double overtime game and another overtime game that almost saw a 15 seed (Robert Morris) beat 2 seeded Villanova.

That was the precursor for a day that would wreak havoc on the Big East. With Notre Dame begin the first upset of the day and then the Nova scare, I thought there was no way the rest of the day could go the same way for the Big East. Boy was I ever wrong.

But first, more madness! We saw a guard from 14 seeded Murray State hit a hanging jumper as the final second ticked off the clock of the Vanderbilt game, sending Vandy home with their second first round loss in as many appearences. Really? I mean come on Vandy? Was I really that neieve to pick you to go to the Final Four in one of my brackets? Guess so…or is it the Ides of March Madness? Wait that doesn’t make any sense, but I think you know what I mean.

Now back to the Big East. Marquette and Washington was a matchup that intrigued me most of the day. Could the team that gives WV troubles be able to avoid the upset bug? Nope. Marquette went down in the waning minutes to…you guessed it, a last second shot. A three pointer to be exact. Another heart stopping game in the books.

And last but not least…Georgetown. Just days after our man Da’Sean hit a shot as seconds ticked to give WVU their first Big East Championship ever, Georgetown would have to win right? They were a 13 seed. Playing Ohio who was 9th in the MAC, behind of all people MARSHAL! Well, call me a fool again and call my bracket a drink napkin. Georgetown was absolutely embarrassed yesterday.

So what does this have to say about us? Nothing! Today is when we right the ship! Nova survived and Louisville will still advance to upset Duke! I promise!

We are just two hours away from tip-off. So grab your blue and gold and let’s cheer on the Mountaineers. Because this Mountie fan’s not going to stop until he makes it to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis!

LET’S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
